For SevenThings, Bill Thompson will always be most famous as the man who set fire to a harpsichord on a beach in Aberdeen just to record the sound. However, we hear he does other stuff too. He has been an active composer, performer, and sound artist for over ten years in the USA and UK. His works include acoustic, electro-acoustic, live electronic, tape, and digital media, including sound installation and video.
His releases include output on Ven Voisey's somewhere/somewhere else, Phonography's field recordings, spectral house, Ecolirecords, Porkbones, Bremsstrahlung, and others. Thompson uses an assortment of equipment ranging from prepared guitar, digital cd mixers, laptop, radio, and digital/analogue synthesizers, as well as found objects and diy circuit bent devices.
Treading a delicate musical line poised between sound art and minimalist electronica, Bill's evocative work was most recently seen at Le Weekend festival in Stirling.
