Their lyrics are personal, hopeful and fearful, strong melodic hooks mix with dark guitars and pianos, offering a sense of joy in sadness. Chutes have played T in the Park and Rockness and shared stages with Idlewild, The Twilight Sad, Frightened Rabbit, Vampire Weekend and countless brilliant Scottish bands. They have also done live sessions for BBC Radio 1 and received airplay from Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens.
