"As wary as i am about getting too over excited about yet another bunch of lads picking up guitars, drum machines and synths, emulating music inspired by the cold wave of grey Manchester and the like, Detachments really are worthy of the attention.
Not only do they craft intelligent, forward thinking, infectious songs and dark club anthems with the right balance of musical knowledge, integrity, naivety and enthusiasm (that they also recreate faultlessly live), they also so effortlessly look the part, and even made a cynical & jaded 'been there, seen it, done it' veteran like myself sit up and take notice" - Trevor Jackson, Playgroup
Detachments leader Sebastien Marshal (guitars, vocals, electronics, production) was a core member of the now defunct R3mote, signed to Andrew Weatherall's RGC label. He stumbled across lead guitarist Lewis Clark and the rest of the soon-to-be Detachments recruits at "a sequence of insane, East London squat parties" in summer 2007. The intense sounding, new post-punk/dark electronic type band were soon discovered by This Is Not An Exit Records. Before TINAE swooped in, 'Fear No Fear' was orignally scheduled for release on Ivan Smagghe's Kill The DJ label following high recommendation from Andrew Weatherall. The band have recently recorded an Xfm session and are currently recording their debut album with Trevor Jackson, Andrew Weatherall and Moscow at the controls; it is scheduled for release in Spring 2009.
