It's a mix of vintage synth, space disco, electro rhythms, and the occasional low-key acidic moment. Andrew Weatherall

Monarch Appears on Open Ear 1 » Epic electro-disco from Manchester’s English Electric recently released on Scotland’s excellent Mighty Robot records. Log in to download tracks |
Electric English had been tweaking knobs in his spare time for many years, constantly perfecting his own sound until it was time to unleash it onto the world.
Monarch is taken from the Auto Beam EP, English Electric's first full length twelve for Mighty Robot Recordings (he'd previously turned in a splendid remix for their Sneak Thief release). The record received a unanimous thumbs up from the music press and DJs couldn't get enough of it.
With a series of jaw dropping live sets under his belt, another top notch record about to hit the stores (on the Dumb Terminal label) and more to be released on MRR in the future, he's destined to be one of the faces of 2009.
