Joe Acheson Quartet have been making mind-melting head music for a few years now, gaining massive praise in the process. Their music is on a grand scale, evoking the likes of Cinematic Orchestra and DJ Shadow, but with a distinct Scottish hue.

Joe Acheson Quartet Profile

Joe (bass/samples), Poppy Ackroyd (violin/keyboards), Tim Lane (drums) and Jamie Graham (drums) formed Joe Acheson Quartet in Edinburgh in 2005.

At home in clubs or jazz venues, or at festivals or classical concerts alike, Joe Acheson Quartet have developed an ever-expanding fan-base from a varied group of music lovers. Their unique blend of acoustic and electronic instruments (including two drummers), bespoke visuals and stage design (by Ivan Torres Hdez) and regular guest performers, has garnered their reputation as one of the most exciting live bands in Scotland.

In 2008 band have recorded their stunning debut album with funding from the Scottish Arts Council

With three classically trained multi-instrumentalists & a fourth member who has been playing professionally since the age of 13, they have an impressive musical background. If the groundswell of support continues to build it's likely that 2010 will see major success for Joe Acheson Quartet.
