Classic melancholy-tinged country ballad: the plaintive tune, thoughtful words, and wait for the slide guitar break. A multitalented outfit indeed (Jill is Scotland's best female skimmer of stones 2008, congratulations Jill).

Sparrow and the Workshop Profile

Sparrow and the Workshop are a Scottish/Welsh/American 3-piece from Glasgow, formed in the dew of January 2008, under the heavy fog of yeast from the Tennent's factory. They play a stripped-down drumkit, a crashbox, a very white bass, a smallish acoustic guitar, a mellow yellow electric slide guitar and an old french violin alongside boy/girl vocal duets.

With these instruments in tow, they have managed to keep busy on the music front. Since August, they have done a live BBC Scotland session with Vic Galloway, performed live at the Connect Music Fest on the Yoursound Stage, performed at the Edge Festival in Edinburgh and performed at British Sea Power's "Sing Ye From The Hillside" Tanhill Festival in Yorkshire. Their recent SongByToad podcast session can be found at SongByToad's Toadcast site.

They have recently been keeping busy performing live throughout the UK, writing new songs, working on an upcoming EP and partaking in the World Stone Skimming Championships. Stay tuned for more.
