Raw, earnest, lush and hook filled indie pop from San Francisco. Ten Tracks bumped into these guys at Glasgow's Halt Bar and they gave us a whole gigabyte of music to listen to! Expect more from the San Fran scene in forthcoming months...

Listen To The One Appears on The Bowery 1 » The Blank Tapes are like two records playing at once – 60’s folk rock, or one of the velvet underground’s sweeter moments, on top of some lost 70’s power pop classic. Log in to download tracks |
This is how we like our indie pop. Recorded on cassette tape then transferred to an old 8-track, the second album from Matt Adams expands on his debut from a couple years back. Now living in San Francisco after leaving Orange County, he has quickly become one of the finest songwriters in town. While he draws from greats like The Zombies, the Kinks and The Byrds, he manages to not sound like some nostalgic act. In fact there is a freshness and earnest quality to his songs that give them a very timeless feel. Kind of like Vetiver covering power poppers Zumpano. If anyone at Sub Pop is reading this, get the Blank Tapes on tour with The Shins, it will be a match made in pop heaven.
