The Fremch QUarter bio
Weíre Not French transcends The French Quarter beyond the typical new-band confines marked ìone for the futureî and slaps them squarely into
the realms of brilliance
The French Quarter are steeped in the traditions of Scotlandís finest musical exponents.
Engineered by one time Mogwai and Delgados producer Andy Miller, the Stirlingshire quintet's debut EP Weíre Not French is a dreamy, post-rocking
daze of twinkling ivory and nimble guitar smothered in the kerosene growl of vocalist Frank Murray.
Each number besieges the eardrums with military precision, building from the cautious cyclical rhythms of Itís The and Shed Away before exploding
as an artillery of percussion during the breathless Hide.
The recordís peak is the wondrous T2; a track that wails to the sound of aching chords and sobbing key chimes while strangling neck hairs with
Murrayís tragic, paralysing narrative.
A truly remarkable EP drenched with melodious ingenuity. (Billy Hamilton)
"If Winters The Same" is the latest offering from the band, recorded at the Tolbooth, Stirling in April 2009, the song was produced
by Barry Burns of Mogwai.
The band are due to begin recording their as yet untitled debut album in Semptembet 2009.
