Fulfilling its role as a music blog as well as a download portal, Ten Tracks is pleased to present its first artist interview - with Tom, from Official Secrets Act, who are currently on tour (see earlier post for dates).
What's the strangest gigging experience you've yet had?
We played a gig in Dundee at the Doghouse at midnight. It was ace so we hung around a bit after. We then drove through the night and with NO SLEEP played two gigs the next afternoon at the Camden Crawl. By the second one we were drunk, and delirious with tiredness... and that was the gig that we got signed on. The moral of this story? Dont sleep, get fucked, be good.
You were given 'single of the week' on Radio 1 for 'So Tomorrow'. Do you see yourselves as a singles band?
We've just made an album. Like a proper old fashioned one that's designed to go across two sides and everything. We are the most old fashioned band we know. We dont even know what a bit torrent actually is. We dont want to see the music industry becoming solely single orientated becuase albums are fucking amazing and beautiful and they should be cherished and protected like an endangered species of whale. But we like to party and what's a single if its not a party song. We have a few of those.
Are you aware of Ten Tracks? How do you feel it can help you?
Anything that seeks to come to terms with the new music world, that is, to be fair to artists and exciting for listeners is an exciting thing indeed. We care about making albums. But we also care about playing live. And most of all we care about being a part of a creative, inspiring community of artists and fans, many of whom are both. Ten Tracks seems to want to bring people together. Lets do it!
