Benbecula: End of an Era Special A full complement of truly mindbending yet deceptively ordered beat and soundscape smithery from the country's den of iniquitous sonic integrity, Benbecula Records (1999-2009). With a ten packed with previously unreleased, quality material - who said Benbecula was dead? Well… they do. But then, Van Gogh is also dead, and with Christ on this label, anything could happen...
Cloak x Dagger II During the making of the second Cloak x Dagger installment, no less than half of artists selected were signed to labels 'big enough' to mean the work can't be used on Ten Tracks (yet). Gladly one name that transcends them all remains: Amon Tobin, in expressive new guise Two Fingers. TF are accompanied by another chest of British dubstep, hip hop and DnB jewellery: DFRNT, JAQ, Kenetic Fallacy… the list goes on. And if Iona Marshall's voice and melodies has moved us to call her 'Scotland's Bjork', Nedry most certainly does the same for England/Japan. Clearly Cloak x Dagger is kind of a big deal. I Hear A New World Regular columnist for our friends at The Skinny magazine, and Said The Gramophone-recommended curator Milo McLaughlin here nudges you further than he has ever nudged you before to Hear A New World: you can now instantly get your ears on a prime pick of his well documented selections.
The Golden Hour II (The Police Box) After a very positive review in The Skinny for the prose and poetic content of the Forest Cafe's actually magic book, The Golden Hour II, it seemed right and fitting to show that it's not only the writers contributing to the city's most lively creative space that gain something untouchable from it.
A CD containing 20 unique musical offerings comes with the Golden Hour II book, and it has been The Police Box's challenging pleasure to whittle this compilation down to ten (avoiding, for the most part, releases already on the channel). The Golden Hour book and CD in its entirety can be bought here
