Michael Jackson
Enfant Bastard
Here, Edinburgh based lo-fi genius Enfant Bastard is trying to convince us that although he appears to be a skinny white bloke, he is in fact the facially-challenged post-black moonwalking nutjob who refers to himself as the King of Pop.
Anthem For The Call Centre Worker
Wounded Knee
Reclaiming the corporate-speak of the robot voices that greet us on the other end of the line as a call to arms for all downtrodden customer service representatives. Wounded Knee transforms a common depression into a into a perversely uplifting anthem.
Grow Old And Go Home
The Douglas Firs
'If only I could get Neil to play live! This, I believe, is one of the most special projects existing in Scotland.' Ruth Moir, The Bowery
Switches
The Leg
Taken from their wonderful 'What Happened To The Shrunken Tina Turner' album. "Each track was crafted by an expert. It just so happens they were also a lunatic."
Let Fidelity Break
FOUND
Not being a remix, you'd have thought this was the one unadulterated FOUND track on Ten Tracks - until you listen to it... a saucy collage of lyrics, dancefloor cuts and techno motifs from the newly streamlined outfit.
It Was Rough When The Rain Came
My Kappa Roots
Musically speaking, the thing that makes these musicians so valuable - St John, Eagleowl, My Kappa Roots, the Fence label and Tracer Trails - is that they move with each other first, and then with the times. This song's beauty owes something to this.
Whisky!!
The Last Battle
Demo of the single from new album Ruins, described by Darren Carle of The Skinny as 'a beautifully low-key, country strum with an uplifting chorus which will find good company amongst fellow Auld Reekie staples Eagleowl and Meursault.'
Takkat
Esperi
Pretty ambient, this. Okay, it's not thaaat ambient; but it's really, really pretty.
